Welcome to Stochastic Systems Lab. in the Department of Industrial and Management Engineering at POSTECH.

Our mission is to develop efficient and effective methodologies for the analysis and optimization of large-scale stochastic systems. Research topics include but are not limited to

• Queueing Theory and Stochastic Processes,

• Manufacturing Foundation Model (MFM) and its applications,

• Graph-based personalized digital twins,

• Ontology and knowledge graph-based context-aware retrieval and inference agents,

• Reliability and Data-Driven Quality Control,

• 2026/05/01 Donghyun Lee, and Prof. Ko's work entitled "Monotonic Variational Gaussian Process for Efficient Data Collection" was accepted to ICML 2026.

• 2026/04/15 Prof. Ko was appointed as Chair of the INFORMS Telecommunications and Network Analytics Section, effective April 15, 2026.

• 2026/04/10 Prof. Ko delivered a keynote speech entitled "Queueing Theory as Operational Physics: Toward Foundation Models for Manufacturing and Service Systems" at ICIEA 2026.

• 2026/02/13 Samuel Yoon, Chan Yeong Moon, Dayoung Kim have successfully completed their degrees and graduated. Congratulations to all!

• 2026/05/01 이동현 박사과정, 고영명 교수가 연구한 "Monotonic Variational Gaussian Process for Efficient Data Collection" 논문이 ICML2026에 채택됨

• 2026/04/15 고영명 교수, INFORMS Telecommunications and Network Analytics 섹션의 Chair로 임명됨

• 2026/04/10 고영명 교수, ICIEA 2026에서 "Queueing Theory as Operational Physics: Toward Foundation Models for Manufacturing and Service Systems"를 주제로 기조강연을 하였음
