Welcome to Stochastic Systems Lab. in the Department of Industrial and Management Engineering at POSTECH.

Our mission is to develop efficient and effective methodologies for the analysis and optimization of large-scale stochastic systems. Research topics include but are not limited to

• Queueing Theory and Stochastic Processes,

• Stochastic Simulation,

• Time Series Foundation Model and its applications in manufacturing,

• Graph-based personalized inference and recommendation model,

• Optimization under uncertainty with pre-trained models,

• 2026/02/09 Jongwon Kim and Prof. Ko's collaboration work with Dr. Seung Min Baik at HEC Montreal, Dr. Dahm Yu, Dr. Jaehyun Kim at Samsung Electronics entitled "Online temperature monitoring system for semiconductor automated test equipment using local Gaussian process" was accepted for publication in IEEE Transactions on Semiconductor Manufacturing.

• 2026/02/07 Prof. Ko's collaboration work with Prof. Jin Xu, Dening Huang (Huazhong Univ. of Science and Technology) and Prof. Jamol Pender (Cornell University) entitled "Managing Queueing Systems with Gathering-Averse Customers: Staffing, Pooling, and Opening Hours" was accepted for publication in Queueing Systems.

• 2026/01/25 Jongwon Kim, Samuel Yoon, and Prof. Ko's collaboration work with Yerin Kim, Sung Il Kim, and Jaeung Tae at SK hynix entitled "Complexity- and Statistics-Guided Anomaly Detection in Time Series Foundation Models" was accepted to ICLR 2026.

• 2025/12/24 Prof. Ko received the Minister's Citation from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources for his service as Chair of the AI Factory Committee within the M.AX Alliance.

• 2026/02/09 김종원 박사과정, 고영명 교수와 HEC Montreal의 우리 연구실 졸업생 백승민 박사, 삼성전자의 유담 박사, 김재현 박사가 산학협력으로 연구한 "Online temperature monitoring system for semiconductor automated test equipment using local Gaussian process" 논문이 반도체 제조 분야 최우수 학술지인 IEEE Transactions on Semiconductor Manufacturing 저널에 게재 승인됨
